Associate Director of Undergraduate Admissions

The University of St. Thomas (UST), a private Catholic University committed to the liberal arts and the religious and intellectual tradition of Catholic higher education, located in Houston, Texas, near the vibrant central business district, Texas Medical Center, and museum district, is seeking applicants for a full-time Associate Director of Undergraduate Admissions in the Office of Undergraduate Admissions.  This position reports directly to the Director of Undergraduate Admissions.

 

SUMMARY:  The Associate Director of Undergraduate Admission reports directly to the Director of Undergraduate Admission and is responsible for assisting in the development and implementation of all aspects of the undergraduate freshman, transfer, international, and Associate of Applied Science (AAS) student admission, recruitment, and enrollment processes at University of St. Thomas. The Associate Director is a strong supporter of professional development for admission staff, ensures that all personnel are well trained, and provides outstanding customer service.  The Associate Director effectively leverages technology to support all recruitment activities.  The position is responsible for managing a recruitment territory including implementing a comprehensive recruitment plan for prospective students, families, counselors and other constituents.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • The Associate Director will provide leadership, supervision, teambuilding, training and development for members of the recruitment team and offer oversight for ensuring enrollment goals are achieved in support of the universities overall recruitment and enrollment goals.
  • Assist in development, implementation, execution and evaluation of recruitment initiatives targeting specific geographical markets both on campus and off campus for undergraduate first-year, transfer, international and AAS students in order to meet enrollment goals.
  • Support the efforts of the Director of Undergraduate Admission in the development, evaluation, maintenance and implementation of the undergraduate Strategic Enrollment Management Plan.
  • Evaluate and execute admission decisions on undergraduate applicant files.
  • Conduct interviews with prospective students and parents, providing accurate information regarding the institution's current admission standards, academic and related programs, student life, cost, and financial aid.
  • Serve on University committees/councils and as liaison to designated departments/offices/programs.
  • Competent functional user of all database systems related to the Office of Admission. This includes systems such as CRMs and additional software used in the recruitment of qualified prospective students.
  • Develop and monitor statistical reports to enhance recruitment strategies, yield management, forecasting, and operational efficiency.
  • Work closely with the Director of Undergraduate Admission and Vice President for Enrollment Management and Student Engagement to stay abreast of changes in the enrollment and admission industry.
  • Travel on behalf of the University for recruiting and other college related events.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Undergraduate degree from an accredited four-year college/university required.
  • Minimum 5 years admission/enrollment management background with progressive experience.
  • Minimum 3 years of direct supervision and management experience of at least five employees
  • Must have a comprehensive experience in the implementation and evaluation of university recruitment and operational processes.
  • Must have a thorough understanding of CRM systems utilized in an admissions process.
  • An intermediate proficiency level or higher in using Microsoft Office Products such as Excel, Word, and Power Point.
  • Strong and inspirational communication (verbal and written) skills
  • Must demonstrate an orientation to customer service.
  • Good attention to details and organization skills required.
  • Demonstrated effective problem-solving skills are essential.
  • Ability to work in a strategic, goal driven and measured performance environment.
  • A valid driver's license required and must be able to work extended hours or weekends during peak times and for special programs, project and events.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods.  Must be able to carry and transport 40 pounds of materials and/or equipment.  Must be able and willing to travel long distances if needed, by airplane and by automobile.  The physical demands of the above duties described are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
