JOB SUMMARY
University of St. Thomas is accepting applications for a Fulltime Faculty/Chair Appointment in Drama. The successful candidate is an engaging teacher, knowledgeable and conversant in the history of theater, acting, stage management, theater technology, and directing. Applicants with an demonstrable expertise in theater technology are especially welcome. The successful candidate works with students at all levels of experience, with the goal of developing students' confidence and involvement in theater, and to graduate professional-level, broadly educated theater artists. Candidates should appreciate and understand how drama, dance and the fine arts relate to the University's liberal arts curricula.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBLITIES
As Chair, the successful applicant administers the University's Drama, Dance and Studio Arts Programs. He or she develops imaginative and artistically rigorous programs, supervises and evaluates faculty, builds and strengthens partnerships across campus and in the Houston arts community, and cultivates in students a love of learning and the craft of acting. He or she also directs and/or selects and supervises guest directors for student performances.
The successful candidate begins work in August 2023 upon the University receipt of his or her official undergraduate and graduate transcripts. To be considered for this position, candidates must hold a doctorate or a recognized terminal degree in drama and/or theater arts, such as an MFA.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS:
